Russian Jokes Humor Video - Ivan Vasilyevich and The Ambassador
By admin | June 6, 2007
Here I will post a famous Russian movie episode of Ivan Vasilyevich Changes Occupation. That is a screening of Mikhail Bulgakov’s novel of the same name, with a little modernization of 1970s (the original goes back to 1930s). The plot is as follows.
Common man of modern age Ivan Vasilyevich by accident travels in time to the times of Russian Tzar Ivan the Terrible (who by legend killed his own son), along with a thief. By chance Ivan has the same name and appearance as the famous tzar (who in turn finds himself in modern age).
The following episode depicts two pretenders (i.e. false tzar and his accomplice) welcoming Swedish ambassador who came to ask for some land in question. The actors (tzar - Yakovlev, accomplice - Kuravlyov, ambassador - Filipov, servant - Kramarov) are excellent, and the episode is memorable for all Soviet citizens. Watch and enjoy!
- Let in the Ambassador!
(thief addressing the tzar) - Knit your brows! (as he is looking too mild to be Ivan the Terrible)
Ambassador starts to speak in German.
(thief) - This foreign tourist speaks well. What is he talking about?
(tzar) - There is no making head or tail of it.
(thief addressing servant) - Do you have an interpreter?
(servant) - We had one, but he failed to translate well, so we boiled him in hot water.
(thief) - Too bad to treat interpreters in such a way!
(thief addressing tzar) - Do not be silent. Talk!
(tzar, knowing nothing to reply, producing a couple of German words that he knows) - Hitler kaput!
(thief addressing servant) - Do you know in general what he is speaking about?
(servant) - Of course. He asks for land, Kemska Volost. They had some fights for it.
(tzar) - Oh, no problem, let them take it!
(thief) - What the hell you, tzar mug, are doing? Do you squander land?!
(thief addressing ambassador) - These things are not to be decided in one minute. Come again after a week or two. I want to give you a souvenir.
Then the thief steals a golden locket from ambassador’s chest.
