Ivan Vasilyevich and Miloslavsky

This is a song from the famous Soviet movie Ivan Vasilyevich Changes Profession. Culprit Miloslavsky (actor Leonid Kuravlev) by chance travels in time back to medieval times of Ivan the Terrible. He and his companion Ivan Vasilyevich (actor Yakovlev) find themselves in the middle of Tzar’s palace, and servants mistake Ivan for the Tzar. They find temporal pleasure in such surroundings, and Miloslavsky even teaches musicians of the palace how to play a modern song. Then they dance in a modern manner. The movie is excellent, and you can feel the mood by viewing this little extract from it.

Russian Humor Video Uno Momento The Formula of Love

There is a series of movies by Mark Zaharov where many Soviet movie stars take part, and one of them is The Formula of Love. The plot is about Count Calliostro, famous magician and possibly a charlatan. He has a couple of servants who sing this humorous song. The words do not mean anything. First I quote the movie itself:
The translation of this song is given as follows (actually no meaning in words themselves):
There once lived a poor fishman who started in his boat from Naples to heavy sea, and his bride was waiting for him, but only in vain, then he took off her clothes and threw herself in abyss that swallowed her in one moment. Nobody survived.

Russian Humor Animation Adventures of Captain Vrungel

I am sure you enjoy this site a lot, and here is another great piece from Soviet animation Adventures of Captain Vrungel. There were not many cartoons for us children in the USSR. We had only three channels of television that broadcast mainly the Communistic Party Sessions and news about achievements of Soviet Union, boring to say the least. But we enjoyed so many great Russian movies and some cartoons… Well, they were a few, but they were impressive. I likes this one a lot, more than 10 series of Captain Vrungel! Here is a song of Agent 00X, Superagent.

Russian Humor Video - White Sun of The Desert

If you do not know The White Sun of Desert (Beloe Solntce Pustuni), you did not live in the USSR. The movie is done in Western style, with guns, shooting, men on horses, Eastern flavour, bad guys and heroes. The plot is as follows. It is 20es of the 20th century. Bad guy Abdulla is involved in smuggling and has many wives. His opponent is custom official Vereschagin who doesn’t care much about anything and lives simple life in his oasis land with peacocks and eating black caviar. The Red Army officer Sukhov is very persistant to fight against enemies of Soviet authorities and asks Vereschagin to help the Red Army. And Abdulla also asks Vereschagin, the tough man, to help him. In this episode Vereschagin treats harshly the ambassador of Abdulla who is sent to ask for grenades.
(Vereschagin sings “I am not lucky in death, I will be lucky in love”)
(Abdulla man - AM enters to the room after ascending the step ladder and sees Vereschagin lying on bed and singing)
(AM) Do you still sing? I am from Abdulla. We run short of grenades, and we know you have good supply of them. (looking around, then becoming angry)
Shut up! Stop this silly song! Stand up when officer addresses you!
(Then AM breaks the wooden shuttles with his head and falls from the second floor in sand. He stand up, shakes off from sand and jumps on his horse, addresses his companion-in-arms):
- Oh, he has grenades of wrong type!
